Shoulder

Because we use our arms for so many activities, it’s not surprising that shoulder and elbow pain are common ailments that can cause significant problems. When in need of shoulder pain treatment, you should consider seeing a skilled orthopedic provider.

Shoulder pain has many causes. For one thing, there is arthritis, an inflammation of the joints that causes swelling and stiffness. What most often happens is the cartilage wears away, and the protective lining between the bones is lost, resulting in painful bone-on-bone friction and rubbing. Orthopedists refer to this as osteoarthritis, which, if it is severe, can restrict motion.

Other sources of shoulder and elbow pain include injury resulting in strains and fractures, infections, and underlying diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, in which your body’s immune system attacks the lining of the joint capsule.
